Learn More About Of Accelerated Reading

By Lisa Carter

Generally, accelerated learning is a technique of learning that is helpful in assisting a person organize, arrange and absorb information at a higher speed. The fact is, since the creation of printing press, people are mostly exposed to information that is presented in the written word. As a result, it is essential that people learn how to collect and assimilate the written word in a way that saves time and energy through accelerated reading.

Essentially, there is the continued expansion and increased influence of multimedia-web-services as opposed to written word that somehow is losing a bit of ground. Nonetheless, it remains to be the prevalent and most popular way of presenting information even in this modern world. Even though it may be argued as a major reason for overload of information, it also piles lots of pressure on information gatherers that work towards generating some meaning to present to the world.

From when people are young, they are normally trained and conditioned to assimilate written word in various ways. Many people are initially taught the pronunciation methods of a single alphabetical letter. Then, they are introduced to read short words where they are guided to read each letter of a word as a single character before verbalizing the whole word.

As people continue to become older, they get more experienced on reading. As a result, they progress to larger words and they learn to verbalize those words as whole chunks. This help to improve and enhance speed. However, for many people, this is the point progression stops. The implication is that it starts a lifelong process where to read becomes inefficient and presents an ineffective way of absorbing larger amounts of information in the mind.

There are different techniques applied in accelerating how a person reads. One technique is the principle of speed-reading. This entails skimming, identification, chunking as well as filtering precise sections of information in order to accelerate learning. One skims information in a way that they can be able to attain an overall idea of the theme as he or she sticks to the meticulous details.

In chunking, you put together the relevant aspects the same way you chunk individual letters into words. This helps to assimilate sentences and paragraphs in a quick succession. At the same time, you can filter or identify information that is not relevant in helping you understand the topic. Speed reading not only involves how to read quickly but involves analysis process of assimilating the information to help learn the information quickly.

The other technique used is the principle of photo-reading. This is where preconscious sort of awareness which naturally causes creativity and quick assimilation of information whilst initiating non-judgmental learning. In such cases, one shut-off their conscious mind away from learning cycles. Even though our conscious mind is essential in inducing our short and long-term memory, it becomes a hindrance because of the preconceived notions and ideas on the information read.

The benefit of learning to read at an accelerated speed can significantly lower your study time and efforts. At the same time, you improve your speed of comprehension as well as assimilation of new information.
